Test Light
At some point, you might want to test your SCRAMBLER™. It's easier than you might think.
The easiest way to test your SCRAMBLER™ is to expose it to a 13.56 MHz signal. This will make a tiny LED test light blink inside the lock symbol on the front of the card. This means that SCRAMBLER™ is functioning properly.
Note: your phone must have the paying capability in order to test your SCRAMBLER™ using a smartphone since there is no “Pay" app available at this time. The most common are: Apple Pay, Google Pay, Android Pay, Samsung Pay, and there are others.
Another way many of our customers test their SCRAMBLER™ is by placing them next to their (wave) entry badge. Most electronic entry systems now use a 13.56 MHz signal, which means SCRAMBLER™ will prevent the door from opening, so you know it is working.
You can test it the same way using a wave and enter hotel card since almost all hotel doors use a 13.56 MHz frequency. You can also test it at RF pay point terminals commonly found in stores and gas stations. Just bear in mind that in about 7 years we've sold thousands and thousands of SCRAMBLER™ cards with no fails!
Here's how to test SCRAMBLER™ using your smartphone:
Turn on your phone's NFC (Near Field Communication) wireless pay signal, then hold your SCRAMBLER™ face up (so you can see the test light) on your phone wherever the NFC signal is being beamed—usually from the top or back of your phone. When the NFC signal reaches the card, the LED will light up and usually blink. It's just that easy!
Some other useful information:
SCRAMBLER™ is a 'passive' device, which means it is 'sleeping' until needed to block your identity and financial information from being sent wirelessly to hackers via RFID (Radio Frequency Identification.) Because SCRAMBLER™ has no battery or moving parts, we expect it to last indefinitely—our best guess is at least 5 to 7 years.
